New this week 25Feb-3Mar 2013

2013 will be all about Canadian music. So is the album I am personally expecting most this week, and one of the few I might actually buy on CD: Montreal trio Doldrums, performing live last week at East London hip and hippest venue Birthdays and this Tuesday at top venue Rough Trade East, will be releasing Lesser Evil later on the 26th Feb (Arbutus Records for North America and Souterrain Transmissions for Europe). Listen to Anomaly.. to say it with the top YouTube comment “if you have the equipment to support the bass….it’s an amazing aural experience”.

But the big talk of the week, of course, is the new project lead by Thom Yorke, Atoms for Peace. Shame on me, I haven’t had the time to listen to it yet. But the new video is amazing:

This week a lot of new releases came out, but to be honest, I haven’t had the time to properly listen to all – oh rent, why do we need to pay you? Since I’m already late with this post, and I want to share the new March albums, I’ll just list some interesting stuff here.

Shout Out Louds, Optica – video of Walking in your Footsteps, live in Stockholm

Former Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr, The Messenger. I can’t stop listening to Generate! Generate! – great tune that sticks in your mind!

Mogwai, follow up of the EP published in January, Les Revenants Soundtrack is a must listen! The first track is just beautiful:

Dan Wilde, With Fire in Mind, out on the 25th Feb on Bob Presents… This promising Cambridge-based songwriter will be gigging a lot this year, and you don’t want to miss out!

Closure in style with an amazing track from the new Unknown Mortal Orchestra, titled II – my favourite discovery of the month, and 7.5 on Pitchfork!. Check out One at a Time:

As usual, you can find everything I’ve mentioned this month on our playlist on Spotify!
